FIRST HALF SCORING SEALS VICTORY
Liz Hansen converted
crosses from Sam Lees and Laura Rawnsley in the first half to lead the
host FC Victoria Gorge Premier Women's to a 2-1 victory versus the
Gordon Head Williams Premier Women's team in Terry Price Cup round
robin play. The victory moves the FC Victoria Gorge team to first place
in pool B with two victories and secures a semi-final berth to be
played on April 1st.
Sunday's game was played under welcoming sunny skies and followed
the youth girls tournament that was held at Hampton Park that day. Many
young girls, 9 and 10 years of age stayed to watch two of the best
amateur women's teams on Vancouver Island compete in the cup match.

ACADEMY GIRLS JOIN 1988-1990's IN MATCH VERSUS ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE
A
Spring Break mid afternoon game was played at Hampton Park yesterday
between FC Victoria Gorge and Royal Military College of Kingston,
Ontario. The FC Victoria Gorge Women's team for this game was made up
of 1988-1990 born players, players from the FC Victoria Academy program
and one W-League veteran player in Carey Gustafson. RMC are in Victoria
to compete in the spring cup hosted by the University of Victoria.
The FC Victoria Gorge Women's team were decked out in medium blue
and white vertical stripes, a kit courtesy of Sheffield Wednesday in
the Championship League. The only feminine hint was the pink script
logo of the former sponsor of the storied franchise. The new look
seemed to inspire the locals and gelled a group of girls, most whom
never competed with each other in the past.
